Yirranma Place
A historic, iconic, and inspiring community hub
-
Challenge
Yirranma Place is a new community precinct in Darlinghurst, established by Australia’s largest philanthropic group, the Paul Ramsay Foundation.
Renovating the building at 262 Liverpool Street, the Foundation wanted to embed their purpose and mission – breaking the cycle of disadvantage – into the local Darlinghurst narrative. Their ambition was to create a shared space for purpose-aligned business, locals and visitors alike, to connect and spark ideas. -
Approach
At the entryway, we created an animation of ‘the cycle of disadvantage’ that invites visitors to discover the story of the Foundation, view data visualisations, and explore their partners. In the lift lobby, a projected picture gallery and interactive touch screens invite exploration of Darlinghurst’s local community, past and present. In the Great Hall, a 3D scale model of the building attracts visitors to peer into its secret history, with a cutting-edge AR experience.
Additionally, their website hosts a series of audio stories which bring Darlinghurst’s vibrant social history to life, adding to the neighbourhood home. -
Results
Visitors to Yirranma Place are immersed in and can explore the rich culture and history of the surrounding neighbourhood, and the mission and work of the Paul Ramsay Foundation through interaction with the space via immersive technology seamlessly integrated into the space.
Anyone is welcome to explore Yirranma Place, I encourage you to visit, it’s a stunning space.
